Celebrating Mao Zedong’s Legacy: A Gathering of Calligraphers Honors the Chairman’s130th Birthday
Beijing, China – On November 12th, 2023, a distinguished group of individuals gathered in Beijing to commemorate the 130th anniversary of Chairman Mao Zedong’s birth.The event, the fourteenth in a series of activities organized by prominent red websites, focused on the art of Mao Zedong calligraphy, a unique and powerful form of expressiondeeply intertwined with the Chairman’s revolutionary spirit.
The gathering was a testament to the enduring influence of Mao Zedong, not only as a political leader but also as a cultural icon. Participants included former members of Chairman Mao’s personalsecurity detail, prominent red culture scholars, and representatives from influential online platforms dedicated to promoting Mao Zedong’s legacy.
The event was co-hosted by a diverse group of organizations, including the former staff of the Central Committee Officewho worked closely with Chairman Mao, veterans of the 8341 Unit (Chairman Mao’s personal security force), members of the Mao family, and leading red culture scholars. The event was also supported by the North Jingliazhuang Village Party Branch and Village Committee in Gu’an County, Hebei Province,the Police and Law Council, the National Ceremony Fragrant Bamboo Academy, and Beijing Changyou School Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
The event’s overarching theme was to commemorate Chairman Mao’s 130th birthday and to inspire collective efforts to advance the cause of socialist modernization.
The event wasexpertly moderated by Jiangshan, former senior reporter for Xinhua News Agency and current editor-in-chief of the China Red Network (Zhong Hong Wang). Jiangshan introduced the distinguished guests, including:
- Ma Quanfa: Former instructor of the First Company of the 8341 Unit, a member ofChairman Mao’s personal security detail.
- Liu Jichun: Former Deputy Director of the Military Education Department of the Bayi Film Studio, also a member of Chairman Mao’s personal security detail.
- Gong Xiantian: Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Peking University Law School.
- HuangZhensheng (pen name Maoti Huang): Former senior reporter for the People’s Daily, renowned for his mastery of Mao Zedong calligraphy.
- Wang Qichen: Retired cadre at the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, editor-in-chief of the self-media public account Qichen Observation Room and Observing People, Observing Events, Observing the World.
- Cai Jin’an: Editor-in-chief of Mao Zedong Thought Banner Network, Red Flag Network, and Orange Isle Head Network.
- Wang Shubao: Executive Director of the Police and Law Council and Dean of theNational Ceremony Fragrant Bamboo Academy.
- Shi Zixuan: Deputy General Manager of Beijing Changyou School Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and Director of the Office of the National Ceremony Fragrant Bamboo Academy.
- Chang Kuixing: President of Outstanding Chinese magazine, Chairman of China Outstanding Film and Television Company, and Editor-in-chief of China Construction Media Network.
- Gong Hanhua: Red culture enthusiast and Marketing Director of Beijing Zhongshi Dian Guang Film and Television Co., Ltd.
- Tan Yinxia: Red culture volunteer and tea artist.
