Flower Blooms, Path Forms: He Duo-ling’s Teacher-Friend Exhibition Celebrates Artistic Growth and Diversity
成都, China –The phrase 桃李不言，下自成蹊 (Peach and plum trees do not speak, but a path forms beneath them) embodies the silentinfluence of a great teacher. Painter He Duo-ling, a prominent figure in contemporary Chinese oil painting, and his students are bringing this ancient proverb to life throughtheir art.
Following the successful Peach and Plum Trees Do Not Speak – 2022 He Duo-ling Teacher-Student Exhibition in August 2022, He Duo-ling and his artistic circle are back withFlower Blooms, Path Forms – 2024 He Duo-ling Teacher-Friend Exhibition at the C Gallery in Chengdu. This exhibition, running from October 12th to November 25th, marks a continuation of the Teacher-Student (Friend) Exhibition series, showcasing the artistic journey of He Duo-ling and his influence on a diverse group of artists.
The exhibition features over forty works by He Duo-ling, his students, and close artistic friends. It offers a glimpse into the unique styles of each artist while highlighting theshared spirit of artistic exploration and growth fostered by He Duo-ling’s mentorship.

He Duo-ling, the central figure of the exhibition, presents his 杂花写生 (Miscellaneous Flower Sketches) series, depicting the vibrant beauty of flowers and plants in various seasons. His work captures the essence of 一花一世界 (One flower, one world), showcasing the resilience and vibrancy of life. A particularly striking piece, a 100x200cm 杂花写生, serves as a highlight of the exhibition.
The exhibition also features works byartists like Jiang Guorong, Ouyang Xuezhu, Bai Dongliang, and Lü Kangyou, who, while not formally He Duo-ling’s students, have developed a close teacher-friend relationship with him over the years.
A younger generation of artists, including Xiong Xuan, Zhu Koyan, Wang Hongkai, Zhang Jing, and Zhao Zitao, who were students of He Duo-ling in his earlier years, also contribute their works. These artists have cultivated their own distinct styles through years of artistic exploration.
The exhibition also showcases the work of emerging artists like Luo Shipeng, Hu Dan, and Li Yiling,representing the next wave of talent.
