Chengdu Hosts the 2024 National Youth Gymnastics U Series Championship

Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China – The 2024 National Youth GymnasticsU Series Championship concluded in Chengdu on September 24th, bringing together 19 teams and over 170 athletes, coaches, judges, andtechnical officials at the Dong’an Lake Sports Park Multifunctional Stadium. This competition marked the first national youth gymnastics event following the Paris Olympics.

The six-daycompetition saw intense battles across various disciplines, including floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, high bar, balance beam, and uneven bars. Athletes showcased their skills and determination, vying for top honors in differentage groups.

In the women’s Division A (U15), Zhang Keqin of the Hubei Gymnastics Team secured gold in the all-around and balance beam events. Chu Yiming of the Fujian Gymnastics Team dominated thevault, uneven bars, and floor exercise categories.

The men’s all-around competition witnessed a display of exceptional talent. Kwong Kai Yin of the Hong Kong Gymnastics Association claimed victory in both Division B (U14) and the 14-year-old group. Tian Shijin ofthe Guizhou Gymnastics Team emerged as the champion in Division A (U17) and the 15-year-old group. An Zheng of the Anhui Gymnastics Team took the top spot in the 17-year-old group, while Jiang Qifeng of the Guangdong Gymnastics Team secured the 16-year-old group title. Hu Yuhan of the Hubei Gymnastics Team won the 13-year-old group.

In the women’s all-around competition, Chen Ziyan of the Shaanxi Gymnastics Team triumphed in both Division B (U14) and the 13-year-old group. Cao Tianqi of the Anhui Gymnastics Team secured the 14-year-old group championship.

Champions also emerged in other categories, including the men’s U17 floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and high bar, as well as thewomen’s U14 vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise. Notably, Wang Jiali of the Sichuan Gymnastics Team secured the top spot in the women’s Division B (U14) vault.

This championship served as a platform for showcasing young talent and fostering a vibrant atmosphere for thedevelopment of gymnastics in China. The competition provided a valuable opportunity for aspiring athletes to gain experience and compete at a national level, contributing to the future of Chinese gymnastics.
